Mechanism of Action
Ampicillin and cloxacillin are bactericidal antibiotics that work by interfering with bacterial
cell wall synthesis, ultimately killing the bacteria.

to high risk of rash.
 Monitor closely in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins.
Warnings
1. Exercise caution when giving neonatal drops to babies whose mothers are penicillinsensitive.
2. Inquire about previous hypersensitivity reactions before starting therapy.
3. Discontinue immediately if an allergic reaction occurs and initiate alternative treatment.
