How It Works

Etoricoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor that:

• Reduces the production of prostaglandins, which mediate pain, inflammation, and fever
• Spares COX-1, thus minimizing gastrointestinal (GI) side effects like ulcers and bleeding
• Does not affect platelet function, unlike non-selective NSAIDs

• Uncontrolled hypertension (>140/90 mmHg)
• Established cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease
• Children under 16 years
• Inflammatory bowel disease

Precautions

• Use caution in elderly patients, those with GI disease, or those taking other NSAIDs
• Increased risk of cardiovascular events at high doses or long-term use

Warning 1:
Use caution in patients with cardiovascular risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, smoking).
