How It Works
Paracetamol acts centrally to relieve pain and reduce fever. Its effect is believed to be due to
inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system or through an active
metabolite that influences cannabinoid receptors. It helps regulate body temperature and reduce
discomfort associated with pain.
Usage and Safety
Dosage:
Paracetamol (Dosage should be based on age and weight, as advised by a healthcare provider.)
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include:
 Thrombocytopaenia
 Anaphylaxis and hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. rash, angioedema)
 Severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis)
 Bronchospasm in patients sensitive to aspirin/NSAIDs
 Liver dysfunction
Drug Interactions:
Prolonged regular use with warfarin or other coumarins may enhance anticoagulant effects,
increasing the risk of bleeding. Occasional use has minimal impact.

Contraindications
Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the excipients.
Precautions
This product contains paracetamol. Do not use with other paracetamol-containing products, as
this may lead to overdose and risk of liver damage.
Warnings
 Patients with liver or kidney impairment should consult a healthcare provider before use.
 There is an increased risk of liver toxicity in individuals with depleted glutathione levels
(e.g., malnutrition, alcoholism, low BMI).
 In cases of sepsis, paracetamol may raise the risk of metabolic acidosis in glutathionedepleted states.
