How It Works
Cefixime works by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) inside bacterial cell walls,
inhibiting the final stage of cell wall synthesis and causing bacterial death.
Usage And Safety
Dosage: As prescribed (Cefixime)
Side Effects:
 Diarrhea (discontinue if severe)
 Changes in stool color
 Nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, vomiting
 Headache, dizziness, seizures
 Transient increase in liver enzymes, alkaline phosphatase, jaundice

Indications
Used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria such as:
 Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
 Otitis media
 Pharyngitis and tonsillitis

 Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral)
When Not to Use
Avoid if:
 Hypersensitive to cefixime or ingredients
 Allergic to cephalosporins
