How It Works:
Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) is synthesized in the skin upon exposure to UV light. It undergoes
hydroxylation in the liver and kidneys to become 1,25-dihydroxy-cholecalciferol, the active
form of Vitamin D. This active form regulates calcium and phosphate balance in the body,
working with parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin.
