How It Works
Thiocolchicoside selectively and potently binds to GABA-A receptors and activates GABA
inhibitory pathways, leading to muscle relaxation and relief from muscular contractures.

 Rare: Diarrhea, gastric pain, heartburn
 Very rare: Drowsiness, skin rash, erythema
Drug Interactions
 Avoid concomitant use with other muscle relaxants acting on the musculoskeletal system,
as effects may be enhanced.
Indications
 Adjuvant treatment of painful muscle spasms associated with:
o Degenerative vertebral disorders
o Vertebral static problems
o Torticollis
o Dorsal pain
o Low back pain
o Traumatological and neurological disorders
When Not to Use (Contraindications)
 Hypersensitivity to thiocolchicoside or excipients
 Pregnancy and lactation
 Women of childbearing potential not using effective contraception
Precautions
 If diarrhea occurs, reduce the dosage.
Warnings
1. One metabolite of thiocolchicoside induced aneuploidy in preclinical studies at doses
near human exposure (8 mg twice daily). Aneuploidy is a risk factor for teratogenicity,
embryo-fetotoxicity, spontaneous abortion, cancer, and impaired male fertility. Avoid
doses exceeding recommended or long-term use.
2. Postmarketing cases of cytolytic and cholestatic hepatitis reported, especially with
concomitant NSAIDs or paracetamol use. Discontinue treatment and report signs of liver
toxicity.
3. May precipitate seizures, especially in epileptic patients or those at risk. Patients should
be informed about pregnancy risks and contraceptive measures.
