How It Works
Mebendazole acts locally in the gut lumen by disrupting tubulin formation in intestinal worms. It
binds specifically to tubulin causing degenerative changes in the worm’s intestine, disrupting
glucose uptake and digestive functions, leading to worm death by autolysis.

Indications

When Not to Use

Precautions

Warnings
1. Rare reports of reversible liver function disturbances, hepatitis, and neutropenia with
standard doses.
2. Higher doses and longer treatments (e.g., for Trichinellosis, Echinococcosis) require
caution in patients with severe chronic liver disease or bone marrow depression.
3. Does not impair mental alertness or ability to drive.
