How it Works
Each active tablet contains a small amount of two female hormones: drospirenone (a
progestogen) and ethinylestradiol (an estrogen). The low doses make it a low-dose combined oral
contraceptive. All active tablets in the pack have the same hormone composition, making it a
monophasic combined oral contraceptive.

Indication
Used as a combined oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy
Treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in women seeking contraception
Treatment of symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in women who have
chosen oral contraceptives as birth control (efficacy beyond 3 cycles not assessed)
When Not to Use
If hypersensitive to ethinylestradiol, drospirenone, or any other ingredients
If you have or have had blood circulation disorders, especially those related to thrombosis
(deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, heart attack, or other clot-related disorders)
Precautions
Does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
Additional barrier contraceptive methods are needed to prevent STDs and HIV transmission
Warnings
Risk of thrombosis (blood clots), especially deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary
embolism, is highest during the first year of use.
If high blood pressure develops during use, discontinuation may be advised.
Slightly increased diagnosis of breast cancer in users compared to non-users; risk returns to
normal over 10 years after stopping.
